Course Objectives

The basic objective of the course is to provide an understanding of the Goods and Service Tax and also train the users on the impact on the various business process and how to re-engineer the same to meet the challenges to be faced on the rollout of GST.

Goods and Service Tax (GST) is a comprehensive tax on levied on supply of goods or services or both It is also known as Value Added Tax (VAT) in some countries and it is implemented in about 165 countries across the globe. Rolling out of GST in India is being dubbed to a mother of the indirect tax reforms post-independence but in reality, it is not a tax reform but a business process reform. Under GST goods and services will be covered in single tax and input tax credit is available seamlessly across the supply chain cycle. The major advantage of GST availability of input tax credit when used in furtherance of business. The Same return has to be filed for all the taxes by a regular taxpayer for the supply of goods and services. The business process has to be changed to meet the requirements of GST and sustain the same levels of top line and if the changes are effective then bottom-line also improves, it goes by the concept “Change or Perish”. Return filing is online and significant change with the current process is, reporting is based on transaction level data and input tax credit is available on supplier payment of taxes and filing of returns.
